Message from the President

We remember Lauren Casey with warmth and thoughtfulness. Lauren was very dedicated to the Friends and volunteered twice to serve as our President. She was very passionate about reading and always quick to share a recommendation of a book she enjoyed. We will miss Lauren. Our thoughts are with her family.

Joan Leonard, our current President is recovering from an illness. Joan, one of the original Friends, is unable to write this message at this time. At the Executive Board’s request, we are still seeking volunteers to come forward and be a part of the Board. Without an elected Executive Board, The Friends will not be able to continue operations, and we will be forced to begin the process of dissolving the organization. Please, if you are interested in stepping in to serve on the Executive Board, contact our Nominating Committee chair, Bernie Zuckerman at bernard1750@aol.com.

Please join us at our next meeting on June 23rd. Details below.

Thank you.

Election of Officers

By Bernie Zuckerman, Nominating Committee Chairperson

As this is our Annual Meeting, we should be holding the election of new officers. However, we do not have a slate to present at this time. If volunteers do come forward, vacancies are for President, Vice President and Secretary. Joyce Sowa is willing to remain as treasurer. Nominees may be nominated from the floor at the time of elections. We do ask that anyone being nominated from the floor be approached in advance of the meeting and he/she must agree to run for the office in question. Please make every attempt to attend this very important meeting.

TBBC’s Seventh Annual Golf Outing

On Monday, June 11, 2018, The NJ State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC) is hosting its 7th Annual Golf Classic at Hopewell Valley Golf Club at 114 Pennington Hopewell Road, in Hopewell, New Jersey. The Friends are pleased to be a sponsor again this year. The Library staff is looking forward to enjoying a day of golf with you on one of the best conditioned and respected golf clubs while supporting a deserving New Jersey program that helps tens of thousands of residents each year. Proceeds benefit the NJSL TBBC, NJ’s only free public library for the print disabled (anyone who has a physical impairment, a reading disability or a visual impairment). For more information on registration and sponsorship opportunities visit the Library’s website at http://www.njstatelib.org/talking-book-braille-center/.
